Gold plating a chrome automobile emblem properly is a process requiring three simple steps:

1.  Removing the existing chrome and exposing the underlying bright nickel plate.

2.  Activating the underlying nickel plate.

3.  Applying the 24 karat gold plate.

This  video clip shows each of the three steps.  The actual time spent gold plating this emblem was three to four minutes.  The gold was plated on to a thickness of greater than 30 micro-inches.  30 micro-inches is the thickness of gold we apply to automotive emblems when we give a life-time warranty against peeling, flaking or corrosion of the gold plate.
